Effective date: 20 July 2026 Last updated: 20 July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Diogo Dias Grilo (an individual; a company is being established), trading as "Original Lore", operating from the United Arab Emirates at Mag 214 Tower, Apartment 2304, Cluster R, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("Original Lore", "we", "us", "our"). They govern your access to and use of the website at originallore.com and the nostalgia-reel service made available on it (together, the "Service").
Please read these Terms carefully. By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
A note on how to read this document: nothing in these Terms removes or limits any right you have that cannot be removed or limited by law — including your mandatory rights as a consumer under the laws of your country, state, or province (for example, in Québec, the Consumer Protection Act; and applicable consumer-protection and "unfair or deceptive acts or practices" laws in US states). Where any term of this agreement conflicts with a mandatory consumer right, that mandatory right prevails and the rest of these Terms continue to apply.
The Service is operated by Diogo Dias Grilo, an individual based in the United Arab Emirates, trading as "Original Lore" (a company is being established, but does not yet exist). You can contact us at any time at hello@originallore.com.
By using the Service you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you are using the Service on behalf of another person, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms on their behalf.
These Terms apply to the current, free version of the Service made available in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The Service is not offered to, or directed at, users in the European Union or the European Economic Area. These Terms do not describe any paid product, and no paid product is offered through the Service.
The Service is intended for a general audience but is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. The Service presents an age check before use; by continuing past it, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
If you tell us you are under 16, the Service will not be made available to you. If we learn that someone under 16 has used the Service, we will handle any related personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
Original Lore is a free, browser-based experience. You enter a small number of inputs — your birth year, the country (and optionally the city) where you grew up, and optional display preferences ("lenses"/modes) — and the Service assembles a short, personal nostalgia reel about your teenage years, combining the era's music, film and television references, and place-and-era imagery.
Key characteristics of the Service, so there is no ambiguity:
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, as described in Section 11.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes, and you agree that you will not:
We may restrict or terminate your access if you breach this Section, as described in Section 11.
The Service itself — including its original text, design, layout, wordmark and logo, user-interface elements, original graphics, code, and the way the reel is composed and presented — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited rights expressly granted in these Terms, we reserve all rights in and to the Service. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial enjoyment, in accordance with these Terms.
The reel references real-world cultural touchstones. Song titles, artist names, film and television titles, video-game titles, and similar factual references are used to accurately identify the works of your era. Associated posters, cover art, still images, cast photographs, brand logos, and streaming-provider logos are the trademarks and/or copyrighted works of their respective owners.
These names, titles, marks, and images are displayed for the sole purpose of identification and nominative reference — to tell you, factually, what was popular where and when you grew up. Their appearance:
All such trademarks and copyrighted materials remain the property of their respective owners. If you are a rights-holder and believe content has been used improperly, contact us at hello@originallore.com and we will review it promptly.
The imagery shown in the Service is of mixed origin. Some era imagery is sourced from public-domain or openly-licensed materials (for example, Wikimedia Commons), and is credited to its source where the applicable licence requires; your use of that imagery through the Service is subject to the terms of the underlying licence. Other imagery is AI-generated to evoke the look and feel of a period and place (see Section 6), or consists of third-party posters and cover-art shown only for nominative identification (see Section 5.2). We do not claim that all era imagery is openly licensed.
The reel is a personal assembly generated from your inputs and from the reference materials described above. You may view and share the reel for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You do not acquire any rights in the underlying third-party titles, marks, or images, and you must not use them in any way that would breach Section 5.2 or the rights of their owners.
Some era-evocative imagery shown in the Service is generated by artificial intelligence to evoke the look and feel of a period and place. AI-generated imagery is created algorithmically. It is illustrative and impressionistic, may be inaccurate, stylised, anachronistic, or imperfect, and does not depict real, specific people, places, or events. You should not treat AI-generated imagery as a factual or historical record.
To identify and illustrate the works of your era, the Service draws on data and media from third-party providers, including The Movie Database (TMDB), JustWatch (via TMDB), YouTube (Google), and Apple. The Service also relies on infrastructure and content providers including Google Cloud, Cloudflare, Pollinations, Wikimedia, and RAWG. Your use of features that rely on these providers is also subject to those providers' own terms and privacy policies. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services, and third-party data and media remain the property of their respective providers.
As required by those providers:
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Streaming availability data is provided by JustWatch.
Cover-art and 30-second audio previews are provided by Apple; their appearance is not an endorsement by Apple.
By using the in-browser video features, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms), and Google's use of your data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
Details of which providers are contacted by our servers on your behalf, and which media loads directly to your browser only after you accept optional media/cookies, are set out in our Privacy Policy. Where third-party media (such as YouTube embeds or Apple audio previews) loads in your browser, that provider may receive your device's IP address and set its own cookies under its own terms; this only happens after you have given consent through the Service's consent control.
The current, free version of the Service does not allow you to upload photos, videos, audio, or files, and does not host user-created content or public profiles. Because you do not submit content to us for publication, no user-content licence is granted or required under these Terms.
The Service does let you optionally submit a short free-text note (for example, to tell us a detail is wrong) and a simple "how it felt" rating. If you send us such feedback, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use it to operate, evaluate, and improve the Service. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in free-text notes. How we handle these submissions is described in our Privacy Policy.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and subject to Section 10 and to your mandatory consumer rights:
Nothing in this Section limits any warranty or right that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the statutory rights of consumers in Québec (Consumer Protection Act) and in US states.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law — including mandatory protections for consumers under the Québec Consumer Protection Act and applicable US state consumer-protection laws.
Subject to the paragraph above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:
Because the Service is free, some jurisdictions' consumer protections may apply differently than they would to a paid product; your mandatory local rights are unaffected by this Section.
Changes to the Service. Because the Service is free and evolving, we may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, data, or the Service as a whole at any time, without liability, subject to your mandatory consumer rights.
Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time — for example, to reflect changes in the Service, in third-party requirements, or in the law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised Terms at this page. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, please stop using the Service.
Suspension and termination. You may stop using the Service at any time. We may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Service (in whole or in part) if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or where we reasonably need to protect the Service, other users, third parties, or comply with law. Because no account is required, terminating access does not involve deleting an account; how we handle any related data is described in our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13 — will survive.
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Service (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, as applied in the Emirate of Dubai, and the courts of the Emirate of Dubai will have jurisdiction, except that:
We want to be honest about which privacy laws govern the Service:
Whatever your location, you can contact us to access, correct, or delete the limited personal data we hold about you. How we handle personal data — including what we collect and why — is set out in full in our Privacy Policy.
Questions, notices, rights-holder concerns, or requests about these Terms can be sent to:

These Terms are provided for the free version of Original Lore offered in the US, Canada, and the UK. They contain no payment, subscription, gift, refund, or withdrawal terms because the Service is free and offers no purchases.
